    The Christmas Tag!

Hey guys! I cannot believe how soon it is until Christmas! I feel like this year has flown in. I can't believe this time last year I was getting ready to go to New York for New Year (& getting engaged!)
I actually remembered that Laura done this tag a few years back so I wanted to do a little festive tag!

    1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
Home Alone for sure! Then Home Alone 2, Elf, Scrooged and the Grinch!

    2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
I have never really done the Christmas Eve present thing, normally my mum gives us new jammies to wear on Christmas Eve so I guess that sort of counts? But we tend to stick to Christmas morning for presents.

    3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Family is a massive thing for my lot. Too the extent people think its weird how close we are. One year, when my cousin lived in OZ, she was due to come over for two weeks for Christmas and New Year. A week before she was due to arrive, she walked through the door and I have never been so happy. Christmas is all about family and every memory I have with them is cherished but that slightly beats it to the post.

    4. Favourite festive food?
Stuffing! I never used to like it but I am now obsessed and could eat plates full! I love nearly everything from Christmas dinner which is unusual as I am normally quite fussy. Also, shout out to quailty street toffee fingers!

    5. Favourite Christmas gift?
I am crazily lucky when it comes to Christmas gifts and have gotten some amazing gifts over the years. But again I'd need to say my cousin coming home was the best present I have ever got. You can never put a price on the gift of time.

    6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Merry Christmas Cookie by Bath and Body Works!

    7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
When my Gumps was still with us, he would take us out to either George Square in Glasgow or into Edinburgh for the Christmas Markets, have lunch some where then at night, we would drive around Glasgow, finding the best christmas lights. It was away to get us out the house so my mum and dad could wrap presents and get everything ready, with out us seeing and ruining Santa for us. It was wonderful. When he sadly passed, that christmas, I was 18 and could drive. My cousin was 5 and I wanted to carry it on for him. Now we just go a drive for some food and to spot the best lights. This year Sam and I are going to the christmas move drive in at Loch Lomond again on Christmas Eve and I will be back to take my cousin out.

    8. What tops your tree?
We always have a star! As its Sam and I's first Christmas in the flat, I bought our star the other day. It is from Tesco, it is silver, glittery and lights up. I love it!

    9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
In all serious, I never really asked for anything seriously over the top. I have recieved some extravagant gifts but never asked for them. Lord bless my extremely generous parents. What I would do when I was younger would be to circle things I wanted in the Argos Catalouge so I probably went over the top and asked for too much and didn't get everything but I never asked for anything wild!

    10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Again for sure family, to all have some time off together and to spend it with each other. There will be 16 of us at my mum's this year and I am so excited for it.

If you are a Christmas lover like us here at Tartan Fairytales,
let us know what your favourite things about it are by doing this tag!
    Have a great one guys!

    Skincare Routine!

    I'm Hello old friends!

I've always been pretty good with my skincare as I've been taught from a young age to always look after my skin (thanks mum!) & now I am going to be a bride, I'm being even more strict with my skincare! So here is my routine now!

So here is me before I done anything, a full face of make up!
Then all I do is use a baby wipe to take it all off

Looking pretty fresh faced huh?! Well nope. I then put on my simple moisturiser  and use my clarasonic Mia 2 to clean it off.

I've lusted after a clarisonic for years and years but have never been able to justify the price. However when I was in New York, this one was on sale in Sephora for $89 just because it was lavender! And I love the colour. As it was my last day and I had a bit of money left, I decided why not, just go for it! I'm so glad I did. It is wonderful. My skin has never felt or looked so good!

The colour of this brush shows how much make up is left over after cleaning with just a wipe. I make sure I clean my brush head after every use.

I then use my simple moisturiser, just as you do.

Then I use my Benefit 'It's potent!' Eye cream to try and banish these black circles.

A little tip I have learned from my job is that not to put eye cream right on the dark circle area. Put it slightly under as it travels up. I spoke to a plastic surgeon at a brand event and he said that when he done procedures to get rid of eye bags, when he opened them, it was all old eye cream! YUCK! Sorry for the info but it's better to know! So I just pat that in. & that's me!

Let me know what you guys do in terms of skincare!
    Until next time!

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 15!

Hey guys! Just a prior warning, I woke up this morning and my lips were in asbolute agony. They were all cracked and sore to move but for blogging sake, I put on my lipstick as normal. My lips look so gross and the pictures aren't the best.  I am not sure if there will be another lipstick post this week as I don't want to make anything any worse but we will see!

    Today's colour is MAC's Heroine.

I have had and loved this shade since it became part of the permanet collection and now it also has sentimental value.  I know this shade was in a favourties post on here a few years back and my opinion hasn't changed at all.

I have to admit, I have quite a lot of purple lipsticks, more than any one person would ever need. Without a doubt though, Heroine is my all time favourite. It is so pigmented and looks great one absolutely every skin tone. I worked on a fashion show were this shade was used on every model so I can say that is honestly beautiful on everyone. Some purples can make you washed out or, worse in my opinion, make your teeth look yellow and I haven't seen that come across at all with this shade.

This is classed as a Matte lipstick but I'm not sure if I would class it as that. Yes it looks matte but it is super hydrating so it doesn't have the negative side of matte lipsticks. Also, its the perfect shade for day and night time wear, all year round. What more could you want!?

If you are on the look out for the perfect purple lipstick I highly recommend this shade. Ignore my messy pictures!

Do you love this shade? Let me know!
Hopefully I will be back tomorrow and Friday but it all depends on the state of my lips!

    November Lipstick Diary! Day 14!

Hey guys, apologies for no post again yesterday. My boiler blew and yesterday was spent trying to get it fixed. Thank the sweet lord for my dad being a heating engineer, Pops to the rescue!

Back at it today though featuring Mac's Myth Lipstick and Spice liner.

As usual, I like to show the combo in different lighting as it can be very different. This combo on me is one of my favourite looks. It is a lovely nude that isn't too over powering. I tend to wear this when I have a very dark smokey look on my eyes. Myth is a 'Satin' Mac finish, which is one of my favourite finishes. It is not matte but not too sheen, so when paired with liner it can look pretty matte. The satin colour pay offs are amazing and they are so easy to apply. Satin finishes are also more hydrating than full matte lipstick so if you were matte often like myself these are a welcomed treat!

I have to admit I haven't seen this look on many different skin tones and I feel it may be too light for darker ones as it could look washed out. With this said, I adore this look on my pale self.

The lipstick is £15.50 and the liner comes in at £13 so it is still slightly pricey compared to some other liner and lipstick looks. Plus the Mac lipsticks last me years. Must say they weren't 15.50 when I first started buying them...

What do you guys think of this look? Do you have any of the same products?
Let us know! See you tomorrow!

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 13!

YAY I did it! Finally a Friday is done ha!

Today's colour is another Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip in the shade 'Swiss Mocha Frappe'

When I knew wanted to try some of the Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips,  I done my research as I always do with new products, I seen Swiss Mocha Frappe and was immediately in love. From the swatches I had seen online, it was a beautiful brown matte colour with some serious grey undertones, making it the exact colour I have always wanted but no one seemed to have made..

As soon as it was delivered I tried it on for a little swatch, loved it and then took it off to go to the gym. In all honestly, its so bad I know, I have that many lip products that I forget or over look some. I then seen this little guy hiding in one of my MUJI drawers and thought 'TODAYS POST!'

Now as you can probably see, this is definitely more grey than anything else which is totally fine as I love grey lip colours however it wasn't really what I was expecting. I know it isn't your usual picture but I included the 2nd one in this row as I feel it shows it better as the lighting was so bizarre everywhere this morning. Don't get me wrong, it is still a beautiful shade, it just looked so amazingly unique on the swatches online. I am slightly used to this as I am so pale but it doesn't normally happen with this kind of shade.

Now if you read my last Beauty Bakerie post, you will know that I adore them. They are insanely long lasting. They are that long lasting that you can actually buy a specially make lip remover from Beauty Bakerie. I use my Lush popcorn lip scrub at the end of the night and it seems to get the job down. However this is after about 10 hours wear so I'm not sure if it would work if you wanted to remove it right away. Who doesn't love a lip product that they can apply once and not worry about for the rest of the day?

How do you guys feel about this shade? Is it something you would rock?
    See you on Monday guys!

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 12!

Hey guys! So today's post is going to be featuring another Kylie Jenner Lipkit. This time it is in the previous best selling shade 'Candy K'.

I know I have raved about almost all the colours I have talked about this month but really, can we look at this shade and say it isn't perfect? It isn't like one of those sickly overly baby pink or overly nude shades that look like foundation lips. It is LITERALLY perfect for me.

I know I could wear this with any look and be ready to walk out the door feeling fab.

Just wanted to show how it looked in different lighting. Still smoking. I know I have said it before but I seriously am in love with the Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks. I love how they make my lips look so full and I love how they feel. I could wear it for hours and still be good. Candy K is definitely long lasting, I get about 8 hours wear from it. Its such a perfect colour on me that I barely need to touch it up. I certainly don't have too drinking. I have seen this shade on some of my friends that have a darker skin tones and it is so beautiful on them also. It truly is an all round great shade. I know for sure I will be repurchasing this for the rest of my days!

What do you think of King Kylie's second best selling shade? Do you love it as much as I do?
Lets see if tomorrow I finally get my first Friday post up without trouble!

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 11!

If you have been following this lipstick diary you will have noticed that I missed yet another day again yesterday. There was a family emergency and by the time I was home it was after 11pm here in Scotland and I just needed to hit the hay. But let's get right back to it today!

Today's lipstick is MAC's 'New York Apple'. On the website this is described as Muted red with pink shimmer which I think does sum it up nicely, however I think the perfect description would be a candy apple.

Does it not just remind you of a candy apple!? The shiny red look literally makes me want one so bad! I think its the perfect shade for Christmas. It makes me feel so festive!

This is a frost shade so it won't last for hours if you are eating and drinking but it doesn't cause any mess and is really easy to top up. New York Apple is also super hydrating and comes as a relief if you are a matte lipstick lover like myself. Just so you can still finish your look off without pulling even more moisture out of your lips, especially in these winter months!

The frost finish of the colour still makes my lips look nice and full which, lets face it guys, is never gonna be a bad thing!

I know I keep saying super, but I am SUPER in love with this shade and I am a firm believer that it can be wore at any time of the year by every skin tone.

Do you guys love this shade too? Did it ever remind you of a candy apple? Let us know! Need to head to the Christmas markets now to snatch one up!
    Until tomorrow chickas,

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 10!

Hey guys and dolls! My introductions are always similar for these November lipstick posts so by now I feel like we might as well just get into it right away!

The colour I am wearing today is 'Media' by MAC.

I have had this colour for a few years and I first got it after seeing it on a YouTuber's top 10 lipsticks or something like that but I can't remember the actual video. I am obsessed with dark lips, especially for Autumn and Winter - such a basic I know! So I snapped it up. For these posts I don't plan what lipstick I am going to wear, I literally just pick out a colour and go. I first picked this up and thought 'Why haven't I wore this in so long, it beautiful!

I then realised why, this colour needs a lot of care and attention. 1, I would never wear this again without a lipliner as it goes EVERYWHERE! You need a good few coats to achieve the max potential of this colour and the more coats that you apply, the more it bleeds out.

Now lets look at these pictures, its is EXQUISITE! I am totally head over heels in love with this colour. I just wish it wasn't so difficult to wear. After a few hours of only drinking water, it was everywhere. Even on my nose, how that happened I will never know.

After lunch, it then looked like this. Bare in mind, I only had a salad for lunch so surely it shouldn't cause too much damage...

In the words of my favourite Ellen show child guest Elias Phoenix -HOW CAN IT BE!? How can a lipstick smear so much just by a fork. It was actually a lot worse in real life. Hey work colleagues, don't mind the clown over here. It had went all own my chin and made it look like acne scarring/ I had severe redness and it bled so much to the corners of my mouth, it was like I had two massive coldsores on my face with unfortunately I do have but yay the lipstick mess hid it.

I really don't want to give up on this colour so I feel like if I apply a liner around the edges and underneath the colour, it might have something better to hold onto. If not, I think I will have to forfeit this beautiful shade.

Do you have this shade, do you have any problems with it? Or do you know any tricks to stop this from happening, if you do PLEASE let me know in the comments so I don't have to lose my love.

    I'll never let go Jack...
    Until tomorrow boos!

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 9!

    Hey guys!!

So I feel like I am totally failing at this lipstick diary,
I went to get ready to put on my lipstick/make up then I seen this a massive beast of a coldsore at the side of my lips.

I need to give my lips a bit of a break and treat it properly to stop the coldsore getting worse. I'm so sorry! I'll be back on Monday!

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 8!

    Good evening my little lovlies!
So today's lipstick is from the MAC Selena Collection. In the shade 'Amor Prohibido'.

In the least no ignorant way, I didn't really know much about Selena Quintanilla, I was one and a half when she tragically lost her life so I never grew up around her music. Also, from a little bit of research, I think she was more well known in the States and such. If like myself, you don't know much  about her, invest some time and research her story. It is beautiful and tragic and was cut way to short. She was 23, when she was murdered, the same age I am now which just sends chills down my spine. That is far too young. So, with the help of her family, MAC Cosmetics realised the Selena collection this year, 21 years after her life was cut short, to celebrate her and remember her.

Truthfully, when I first seen this, I wanted it purely because I am a sucker for limited addition packaging but as corny as it sounds, I felt that if the Quintanilla family knew that there were people out there, buying products inspired by Selena, they would have some comfort, knowing that she was not forgotten, so I went a little crazy.

This was the only lipstick I got because I am a loooooser for nudes and need them all. But after buying the compact and a few eyeshadows I settled for one lipstick. Also wishing I got the red.

This lipstick is beautiful. If I had perfect beautiful lips and just put something like a balm or Vaseline on them , this is what I'd like to think my lips would look like. Alas they do not. So this is a perfect, your lips but better shade for me. This is a 'Glaze' MAC lipstick and normally I don't go for them as I don't normally like glossy lips but I am in love with this look. It isn't sticky or uncomfortable, it is actually very hydrating and I tend to wear this if I have spent a few days wearing liquid lipsticks as it still gives me some moisture back into my lips with still giving me a 'look.

This shade is currently sold out online but I have seen in online in House of Fraser and Debenhams if you are looking to snap it up, these places are probably your best bet!

I hope Selena's love ones are proud of the legacy Selena has, the fact she can sell out a collection, 21 years after her death shows what a woman she was.

    Good Bless you Selena.

    Until tomorrow guys,
    G x

    November Lipstick Diary: Day 7!

Day 7 of Lipstick Diary, woohoo! I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am enjoying going back to see all my old faithfuls!

Today's lipstick is the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in 'Flirt' paired with the Huda Beauty Lip Contour in 'Trendsetter'

Now, I am a massive fan of Huda Beauty so when the amazing, Jamie Genevieve posted a picture wearing this shade, I knew I had to have it. The lipstick is a little darker on me than it was on Jamie in here picture but I am so so fair skinned that I have come to accept this will happen from time to time.

I feel like this combo is a perfect browny nude for me. It isn't a prefect nude but isn't overly brown which I love. It is a look that can be worn with any outfit for any occasion. Also I am Lizzie McGuire the outfit repeater in this outfit ha!

The Huda Lipstick as lovely. When first applied, to me they feel slightly more oily than the other brands of liquid lipsticks that I have tried which for some people can be uncomfortable. However, they don't take long to dry in and are perfectly wearable matte lipsticks.

The colour pay off is amazing and you really do only need one coat to achieve the full colour. They last the usual times for about 6-9 hours with only topping up after eating and drinking which obviously is expected with every brand.

I seriously LOVE this shade/combo and even though I know it will look different on all different skin tones but I can tell it is the type of shade that will work for everyone. I know I will be wearing this all year round.

The Liquid Matte is £18 and the Lip Contour is £16 so they are slightly more expensive than other brands but honestly it is a case of paying for the quality and as I have seen from my other shades they last for ages! The way I see it is if you get 18 wears, that a pound a wear!

Do you guys like this look? Or have any cheaper dupes for it!
Let us know in the comments!
