MAC X CINDERELLA - Stroke Of Midnight Eyeshadow Palette

Hey guys! Its my third and final review on the products I bought from the MAC Cinderella collection. So lets just get right into it! Today is all about the Stroke of Midnight eyeshadow palette.

If MAC (or any other brand for that matter) comes out with a nude eyeshadow palette, the chances of me buying it is very high indeed. This was no exception. The Stroke of Midnight palette contains 6 colours, 5 of which are permanent which, I'm not going to lie, is quite gutting. These include Vapour, Phloof!, Omega, Quarry and Satin Taupe. 3 of which I already own. Sad face. But I do use them all the time so I guess its ok. The 6th shadow is 'Stroke of Midnight' which is the only limited edition shadow. This on the MAC website is described as 'Dark-Plum with sparkle pearl' It really is a dark purple that is basically black. The sparkles don't really translate that much on the eye so it looks more matte that shimmer on the eye. Can't go wrong with another 'black' eyeshadow though right?
Once again I really do love the light blue shimmer packaging from the Cinderella collection.

So that is everything I got from the MAC Cinderella collection, probably the most I have ever bought from one collection.

Let us know if you got anything from the Cinderella collection and what you thought of it!

MAC X CINDERELLA - Free As A Butterfly LIpstick

Hey guys! So I am just going to get right into it, the second product review from my MAC Cinderella Haul. Today is featuring the lipstick 'Free As A Bird'.

I have to hold my hands up guys. I am a nude lipstick fiend. I have about three million nude lipsticks but I just can't help myself when it comes to buying them. The fact this one had cute packaging just pushed me over the edge!
The MAC website describes this colour as 'Semi sheer golden nude' which is very accurate. It does add a lot of shimmer to my lips and lightens them without looking like I have Foundation/Concealer lips which no one wants. Even though I like this colour on its own, as it is semi sheer with shimmer, I think it will be stunning on top of another lipstick, just to give it that little bit of extra glam! I also think the name is the cutest. I wanna be as free as a butterfly!

Did you pick up this lippy?
What did you think of the MAC Cinderella collection?

MAC X CINDERELLA - Coupe D' Chic Iridescent Powder

Hey guys! So I have to admit the MAC X CINDERELLA collection got me really excited. Normally I only like a few things from the collections and don't get too worked up about them. This was a very different case. I don't know why but I was in love with nearly everything. So personally I ordered, the iridescent powder, eyeshadow palette, a lipstick and a pigment. However, even though I checked out just over a minute after the collection went live AND after I had a dispatch email, I then received another email saying that my pigment was sold out and I would receive a refund for it. I personally think they just forgot about it... but hey oh! So I thought I would do an individual review on the products I bought, firstly, the iridescent powder!

I have read a few refuse on this and I have seen that a lot of people don't enjoy it. I, though, think it is beautiful. MAC describes this product as 'light golden peach with a solid shimmer'. I really do agree with this. The shimmer is very obvious in the pan. On the few reviews I read about this, a few people were saying that it ended up making their pores look a lot larger than what they are. However, in the words of Regina George.. My pores are huge! And I don't feel like it made them look any bigger than what they are. I use this as a highlight and blush and I have read that people have been applying this powder all over their face. This baffles me! The product is semi sheer but you still get the peachy tint with it so I don't really understand why people have been using this as an actual powder..
With a primer underneath my makeup, this powder lasted about 8 hours which was great!
I really have been enjoying this product. The adorable light blue shimmer packaging makes it all that more adorable!

Did you guys manage to get your hands on anything from the Cinderella Collection?
Did you like anything from this collection?
Or did you pick up this powder, what did you think about the powder?

Let us know!

My next books to read!

Hey guys!
I thought i'd keep in with the book theme that's going on here on Tartan Fairytales and do a lil post on books i've bought but have still to read!!

I'll include a little run down of each book from the authors website as i've not read these yet so can't do it myself!

First up is Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, who is quickly becoming one of my faves. I loved Fangirl and I am currently reading Eleanor & Park!

"Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that someone is monitoring their interoffice email …
But they can’t quite bring themselves to take any of it very seriously. Jennifer tells Beth everything she can’t tell her husband about why she doesn’t want to start a family. And Beth tells Jennifer everything, period, especially if she thinks it will get a laugh.
Lincoln O’Neil knows that he should stop reading Beth and Jennifer’s email.
He should just send them a warning. He should have sent it the first time he caught them breaking the company rules. But they both seem so nice… They’re smart and funny and interesting, and he likes them. Especially Beth.
By the time Lincoln realizes how much he feels for Beth, it’s too late to unread all of her personal messages. And it’s way too late to introduce himself. What would he say? “Hi, I’m the guys who reads your email, and, also, I love you …”
But he can’t just do nothing. Falling for Beth makes him realize he’s been doing nothing for far too long.
Attachments is a fast, funny romantic comedy about three people at the end of their 20s, at the end of the last Millennium. It’s a book about falling in love with the person who makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Even if it’s someone you’ve never met."
I think this sounds so good and I can't wait to read it! You can purchase this book here! As well as Rainbow's other books here!

Secondly is Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. You all sung Kelly Clarkson in your head once you read the title, right?!

The Pre-Sloane Emily didn't go to parties, she barely talked to guys, she didn't do anything crazy. Enter Sloane, social tornado and the best kind of best friend—the one who yanks you out of your shell. But right before what should have been an epic summer, Sloane just… disappears. No note. No calls. No texts. No Sloane. There’s just a random to-do list. On it, thirteen Sloane-selected-definitely-bizarre-tasks that Emily would never try… unless they could lead back to her best friend.
Apple Picking at Night? Okay, easy enough.
Dance until Dawn? Sure. Why not?
Kiss a Stranger? Wait… what?
Getting through Sloane’s list would mean a lot of firsts. But Emily has this whole unexpected summer ahead of her, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected) to check things off. Who knows what she’ll find?
I think this will be the perfect summer read & I can't wait to dive in to it! You can buy it here! And check out Morgan's other work here!

And lastly, If I Stay by Gayle Forman which was made into a movie with Chloƫ Grace Moretz! Which I actually watched before reading, which is something I normally never do, I thought the movie was okay! But nevertheless I'm excited to read the book! You can buy it here! And check out Gayle's other books here!

"On a day that started like any other…

Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, adoring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. Then, in an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the one decision she has left—the most important decision she’ll ever make.

Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving."

You can buy it here! And check out Gayle's other books here!

Oh! And all of these books are under £6 on amazon!

So there we have it, my next 3 books to read! Have you read any of these?
What did you think of them?
Let us know!

Until next time,
lotsa love

Book Club - Blog Style. Take 5!

Hey guys! So one thing is for sure, I am totally slacking on my book club posts. Which is strange as it is one of my favourite posts to write. I  have a whole pile of books that iI have read that are waiting to be reviewed here.

So for my first book club post of 2015, I thought I would start with a very well known book here on this dang-flabbit internet! It has to be 'Girl Online' by YouTube's own Zoe Sugg aka Zoella. I'm not going to go into Zoella really as you will definitely know who she is unless you have been living under a rock, or are my parents...

There was a lot of controversy around this book as it was revealed that a ghostwriter aided Zoe with writing the book. This really doesn't bother me at all. I struggle to find a celebrity that has released a novel that hasn't used a ghostwriter. Even my queen Lauren Conrad had some help! As long as it was Zoe's idea and she did actually work on it then it is all good from me. Everyone needs a little help now and again.

As with all my book club posts, I don't want to release any spoilers so I will give a brief over view of the plot and what I thought about the book!

'Girl Online' is Zoe's first novel and is based on a young girl called 'Penny' who lives with her parents and brother in Brighton. Penny has a best friend named 'Elliot' who doesn't have the best relationship with his parents so spends most of his time with Penny and her family in her home, which luckily is next door to Penny.

The school which Penny attends is putting on a production of a play which Penny is the 'official' photographer for. The play stars Penny's frienemie 'Megan' & crush 'Ollie'.
Whilst taking a picture on stage of the cast at the finale of the play, something very embarrassing happens to Penny, in front of the whole school! Unfortunately Penny suffers from really bad anxiety and panic attacks which don't help this situation.
Luckily she has Elliot... and her online friends for support. Penny is an anonymous blogger... 'Girl Online' in which she blogs about her life and all her experiences on. Elliot is the only one that knows about Girl Online.
Again I don't want to include any spoliers but basically something happens to Penny as Megan posts something about her online. This really aggravates Penny's anxiety and even the thought of leaving the house is too much for her.
At the same time, Penny's parents are asked to do a wedding in New York, at Christmas, an offer they can't really refuse as they need the money. This idea horrifies Penny and her brother, as Penny is terrified of having another panic attack and her brother has plans to spend Christmas with his girlfriend as they have both been away for months at university.
Eventually Penny's parents convince Penny to go with them as she can bring Elliot who has ideas on how to support her if anything should happen to Penny. Armed with the support of her followers on her blog and desperate to get away from Brighton, Penny agrees to head to New York.

Super excited to be in New York with her parents and best friend for Christmas, Penny vows to take a break from the internet whilst she is away to help her forget about everything back home. As soon as they all arrive in New York, it is full steam ahead to get everything ready for the wedding. Meaning Penny is helping her mum with preparations in the venue as Elliot goes sightseeing with Penny's dad. Whilst strolling around the venue, Penny hears someone playing guitar and singing along. This is where she meets New York native 'Noah' who is the grandson of the caterer 'Sadie Lee'. Releasing the wedding needs something picked up from Brooklyn, Penny's mum sends Noah and Penny to retrieve it. After this Penny and Noah spend the majority of their time together which Penny blogs about. Keeping up with the anonymity she simply refers to him as 'Brooklyn Boy'.

Eventually Elliot has to return home for Christmas Day and New Year as his family won't allow him to stay. For Christmas, Sadie Lee invites Penny and her family to stay with her, Noah and Noah's younger sister.
As Penny and Noah's relationship deepens, they start to confide their personal information with each other and spent their New Year's Eve together.
As Penny is due to return home, the promise to each other that they will make the effort to continue their relationship, long distance.
However upon her arrival home, Penny is greeted with even more chaos than what she left. Threatening to ruin her relationship, her friendship and her blog. Certain secrets have came to haunt Penny. Penny has to discover who she can trust and if she can continue to be 'Girl Online'.

Sorry guys I know if left it a really gappy plot summary but I really hate spoilers myself so I don't want to include any.

Sam got me this for Christmas and I was quite surprised as he didn't even know I was a Zoella fan at all.
'Girl Online' is exactly what you expect with a young teen rom-com/drama book. However I did really enjoy it. I feel like girls around 10-15 will absolutely adore this book and the story line.
Zoe Sugg should be very proud of her book and everything else she has accomplished. I must admit I am looking forward to the sequel which is due to be released this summer.

Have you read 'Girl Online'? I'd love to hear what you thought of it. Let us know!

Until next time.
lots of love.

Things I Don't Understand About Boys!

Hey guys! So after my last post which was a serious & very much debbie downer post, I wanted to do something a little more fun!

So one of my favourite YouTubers is Jim Chapman and around a year/two years ago he made videos called 'Things I Don't Understand About Girls' and I thought they were hilarious! So I thought I would do the same kind of idea.. on things I don't understand about boys! You can watch one of Jim's original videos here.

I just want to say that this won't be an attack on boys obviously! Its just somethings that I am simply confused by. I have been blessed with an amazing dad, brother,  boyfriend and loads of male relatives so these are just things from my own views on things I've observed from them and the general male public!

How can you not use bags!? Where do you keep all your stuff!
Ok this may seem so simple but I just don't get it! Especially on nights out! Like where do you keep your money, mobile phone, keys, ID? I understand you have pockets but surely that all doesn't fit in pockets?! How do you not lose everything?? Baffled.

Judging us fabulous gals for wearing make-up.
Obviously this is only certain boys and doesn't apply to them all. But I'm sure you have all seen those memes on facebook or twitter with a before and after pic of a girl, saying something like 'this is why you take a girl swimming on a first date.' EWGH. I know that, personally, I don't wear make-up for anyone except myself. I love applying it as it is so fun for me to do and it makes me feel more comfortable about myself. So why do boys care? Why do they act like we are lying to them. Honey you can't honestly think my eyelids are naturally taupe with catflicks! Just to let you know though boys, we look just as good natural!

I am such a big advocate for men using skincare. Especially young boys going through puberty etc. It makes the world of difference to oily skin, acne and things like that. But most men don't want to because it is 'too girly??' Your peers won't be saying that boys when they are asking how your skin ended up so perfect! And when they do use it, they don't buy their own, they just steal whatever their female companion has! Go out and get yourself some moisturiser boys.

I love Sam, I really do. But when he gets a case on 'manflu' I seriously consider going into hiding until he is better. Why can't boys handle the flu? Girls have to deal with it whilst cleaning, cooking, looking after little people, making daily visits to ASDA and working!! When Sam gets it, he has to be constantly spooned, brought hot drinks and basically not move from bed. Feeling very sorry for himself! Similar to what my male family members are like. Man up!

Obsessing over football.
I just don't understand. Boys spend so much time and money on this game! The amount of hours that I will never get back, wasted watching football games with Sam is insane. The worst thing is, a lot of them time, it isn't even their team! I have watched games from all over the worlds with team names that I can't even attempted to pronounce, under 18's games and so on, just because they were on TV? Why!!!

Obviously, due to the fact I'm not a boy, I didn't have to go through the changes that boys do. But I literally do not understand how boys can be go hairy everywhere! Chest, back, arms, armpits, legs, feet, hands, snailtrail... everywhere! And it is never a little bit, there is always loads! Where does it come from!?!?!

Hands in pants.
I am sure that I am not the only person that hates this!? Why do guys find it acceptable to walk about in public with their hand CLEARLY cupping their genitals? Walking about around the shops with their friends keeping their hands warm!? THIS IS NOT OK!! What logic makes you boys think that this is going to do anything than repulse people. Then you see them open a door or something with the penis hand and you know its definitely time to go home because it could have been anywhere! Failing that, rushing to Boots for hand sanitizer...

So that is some stuff that I really don't understand about boys! This was a really fun post to get me back into the swing of things. Are you a boy that does any of these things? Can you shed some night for us? Or do you know any boys that do any of the same kind of things? Let us know!

Until next time,
love you all loads!
