My Idols!

Hey guys! Gemma here!

I know this post might be a little strange as its not an area specifically related with anything at all. However the other day I was thinking about people that inspired me and why not do a post about it? Mainly, my mum, aunt, sister, big cousin and gran are my main idols. I feel so blessed to have been raised in a family that has such strong women in it. Each and everyone of them is so loving and would do anything for anyone  but they are also head strong and know exactly what they want. Buuuuut I thought I would just write about my celebrity idols as you guys don't know my family! Ok once again I have rambled on... I feel this is becoming a problem!

ELLEN DEGENERES

I literally do not think I will be able to describe my love for this woman. At first I only knew Ellen as the voice of the memory-impaired Dory in Pixar's 'Finding Nemo'. Then when I became interested in YouTube, I came across her channel that posts videos from her show. After watching about two, I instantly fell in love with her. If you haven't already, check out the channel. Ellen constantly gives back to people that are in need. Normal people that maybe have medical bills that are piling up or say, homes that have been destroyed by hurricanes and such. I swear the majority of Ellen's videos leave me in tears.  She is also HYSTERICALLY funny, without even trying to be. Her kind and warm soul shows through just from being on tv and it seems to be that everyone she works with just loves her. Which I totally understand. Ellen's morals and kindess are something, I feel, are very rare in people these days and it is so refreshing to see it. Especially in a celebrity. I love Ellen!

BETTE MIDLER

I have my fabulous gran to thank for this one! The Divine Miss M. Bette Midler has been famous since the 70's and she still conveys herself as a normal, down to earth woman. Beaches is 100% my favourite film of all time and she just blows me away with her performance as 'C.C Bloom'. It wasn't a strange occurrence for me to go into school singing 'The Glory of Love' at aged 10! Bette sings what she wants to sing, does what movies she wants and looks how she wants. Even after more than 3 decades in the limelight, she has stayed the same. Which I completely admire. So many people become famous and with in a space of a year are different people and artists all together. Bette hasn't. She is also a serious advocate for the environment  which is so rare for a celebrity to try to raise concern about. Bette knows what she stands for and goes for it, very empowering. She is also hysterical in 'Hocus Pocus' so really you have to love her!

DEMI LOVATO

I have loved Demi since her Disney days. We all know about the personal problems that Demi has faced in recent years and that has only made me love her more. I know that discussing eating disorders is a lot more acceptable now than what it has been in recent years but I also feel it is still very 'taboo' to talk about, especially for celebrities. So when Demi decided to open up and honestly discuss her disorder, I was so inspired. Demi has also been a beautiful girl and always been a girl that has a good figure so by discussing it Demi let everyone know that these things really can happen to anyone. Demi is such a role model to young girls as recent studies have shown girls as young as SIX (SIX!!??!!) are developing eating disorders. So I feel by talking about it Demi is showing that you can move on from these things, yes it will be a daily struggle but you can do it. There is so much pressure on girls and woman to look a certain way and be a certain size and I feel we need celebrities, talking about things like this. Demi stands for people being the way they are which is so admirable. She is also crazy talented which just makes her even more amazing. (she also always has amazing hair). Stay Strong Demi!

So they are my main idols! I tell you when I was 16 this would be very different. I know this post was different from usual and also very ramb-ly! Apologies! Let me know about people you admire? Do we share any idols?

Until next time...

What's in my makeup bag?!

Hi lovelies!
Laura here, sorry for my lack of posts recently - haven't had a minute to myself in ages!
So, I have forced myself to write a post... And my eyes are trying so hard to stay opened to get this all done for you all! Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes! I'm so sleepy!

I love seeing what people carry about in their makeup bags, so I wanted to do my own post!

First thing I have in mine is...

This is my all time fave bronzer! It is so pigmented and lovely!

Next is...

Maybelline FitMe Foundation - I am obsessed with this! It's such a good coverage and matched perfectly to my skin! This was Gemma's suggestion for me to get this - so glad I took her advice! Thanks GS!

Next is...

This product here was my bargain of 2013! Gemma and I got this in Superdrug for under £2!! It is amazing and totally covers up any dark circles!

Next is...

Apologies for the disgusting-ness of the packing on the Sleek eyebrow kit! I have no idea what it is and it wont come off!! This kit is brilliant it stays put all day, with a little help from some clear mascara! Love!

Next is...

This is such a gorgeous blush, and it's only £1! The colour is Bubblegum. The picture does it no favours! But it is a beautiful, bright pink and instantly makes my face look healthier as soon as I put it on! My mum always added a bit of blush to make herself more presentable, and it's rubbed off on me!

Next is..

My two fave mascaras - I love layering these together! Too Faced LashGasm and Avon SuperShock! I love them so much!

I also keep a few makeup brushes in here incase I need to top up my makeup! I really love the Real Techniques brushes! And I also have a travel size MAC blush brush which I love too!

And lastly...

Girls gotta have her lippy! Wise words from my mother there! This gorge nude lippy is from Collection 2000 in the colour Tallulah - once again this picture does nothing for it! It's the prettiest nude/pink ever! And completely finishes off a makeup look!

And there ya have it, what I keep in my makeup bag!
What are your essential makeup bag must haves? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Until next time,
Lotsa Love,

T.M.I Tag!

Gemma here guys! Ok, so I have being debating whether to do this as I always seem to do tags, however I love doing them, I think they are so fun! And I feel like it shows you a different more personal side to bloggers and youtubers. Apologies for the lack of posts this week, trying to get sorted for my trip to London whilst balancing uni and work is eating up my time! Ok so I feel like I have rambled on for enough now...

1: What are you wearing?
- I am currently wearing a pair of Toy Story pjs. At 12.16 in the afternoon...

2: Ever been in love?

- I am! (too cheesy?)

3: Ever had a terrible breakup?

- Yes! Do you guys remember the Ash Cloud aftermath from the volcano that erupted in 2010? Well I was in Tenerife, due to fly home when it all went down. When I was stranded trying to get home I got a phonecall from my best friend telling me that my boyfriend at the time had told everyone we broke up and was going on dates. The only person he forgot to tell was me! Good thing we weren't serious!

4: How tall are you?

- I am 5ft 1. How depressing.

5: How much do you weigh?

- I am vary between 7 stone 2 to 7 stone 5. I try not to weigh myself a lot though.

6: Any tattoos?

- I currently have three. I want another and then I think that will be me but I said that last time!

I have roman numerals down the side of my back which I got in Orlando in 2012 with my big cousin. I says 1243, which was my granddad's last marathon number. One on my foot that I got on my 18th birthday with my friend Caitlyn, who also got the same one. It says 'keep smiling, keep shining' Can I just say we got this before 'Bridesmaids' was out! And then my favourite one that I got in November 2011 with my Laura. That says 'You leave me breathless' on my left side. It has a great meaning to me.

7: Any piercings?

- I have my earlobes pierced twice. My right helix pierced and the middle of my ear pierced on my left ear. I also have my belly button pierced!

8: OTP?

- Oh guys, the research I had to do to find out what this is. And the definition I got was 'Meaning the your favorite combination of characters in a fandom' So basically your favourite pair from a tv show or film. Or band I guess? I don't even need to consider this. It has to be Zack & Kelly from 'Saved by the Bell'. They were the ultimate couple.

And how hot are they both?!?

9: Favourite show?

- I have A LOT of shows I love. But the main ones are Saved by the Bell, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Breaking Bad, Desperate Housewives & Cold Feet. Cold Feet was on from 1997- 2003 and I so recommend it if you have never seen it. It has an amazing cast including James Nesbitt who I completely adore.

10: Favourite bands?

-  I can't ever pick between The Summer Set and Blink 182. So I don't even try to. If you haven't heard of The Summer Set, definitely check them out on Itunes or YouTube. You won't regret it.

11: Something you miss? .
- My big cousin and niece who are in Australia.

12: Favourite song?

- Ride with me by Nelly. Invisible Touch by Genesis is a close second!

13: How old are you?

- I am 20. 21 in October. Yay for being able to drink in America!

14: Zodiac sign?

- Libra.

15: Quality you look for in a partner?

- Good manners. There is nothing I dislike more than rude people. And I also like a good sense of humour.

16: Favourite Quote?

If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. I also love a Lauren Conrad, Hills quote now and again but who doesn't?

17: Favourite actor?

- The more you guys read this blog the more you will understand how obsessed I am with Adam Sandler. It is not even normal, right Laura?

18: Favourite color?

- Orange. No rhyme or reason why.

19: Loud music or soft?

- In the house, average. In the car normal very loud!

20: Where do you go when you're sad?

- To wherever my mum is. If she isn't around I normally go to the gym.

21: How long does it take you to shower?
- Even if I am doing the whole palava, including shaving and hair washing. Still around 15 minutes if that. I get very dizzy and feel faint if I am in the shower for long so I have became a pro at getting showered!

22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

- If I include the shower and drying my hair with a full face of make-up, just over an hour. If its just my full make up under half an hour.

23: Ever been in a physical fight?

- No way! Did you read my height and weight? I wouldn't have a chance! I also would rather speak to people and sort things before it got that far.

24: Turn on?

-Broad shoulders! I love broad shoulders they are just my favourite thing ever. And making me laugh.

25: Turn off?

-Arrogance . Nothing worse.

26: The reason I started blogging?
- I don't think there is one solid reason. I just loved reading other people's blogs and thought it would be fun to do it!

27: Fears?

Needles. Blood. Scenes of surgery. Even if Holby City is on my family have to go 'Ok don't look!' or 'You can look now'. One time me and Sam where watching a show about people that had life threating accidents (bad idea in the first place). & we seen an image in which a poor man's foot was hanging on by a piece of tendon. I literally threw up. (hey its called TMI after all!)

28: Last thing that made you cry?

- Oh jeez I cry at the drop of a hat! But this morning I watched the Katy Perry Movie again and when she got the text from Russell saying he wanted a divorce and when she was hysterically crying getting her make up done, I was weeping like a baby.

29: Last time you said you loved someone?

- Last night when Sam was going home.

30: Meaning behind your Blog Name?

-  When Laura and I decided to start this we knew we wanted something Scottish in the name to represent us. Tartan is so associated with Scotland and is a big trend and was at the time so Laura suggested Tartan. Trying to come up with something to go with a beauty and fashion blog and tartan was a hard hard task. It took FOREVER to think of something. So we then decided to look through songs for some inspiration and I had 'Fairytale of New York'. So that is how 'Tartan Fairytales' was born. And I LOVE IT.

31: Last book you read?

- The 'Diary of a Chav' series by Grace Dent. I read these books a few years ago and they were amazing so I asked my brother for them for Christmas and I swear they were even better the second time around. I love books that are like diaries. I love Shiraz Bailey Wood.

32: The book you're currently reading?

- Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. I am only a few chapters in and I am loving this book. It is slightly like this film 'The Vow' but who didn't like that? But again I am already liking the book more and I loved The Vow. I also love Sophie Kinsella books. Before I started The Diary of a Chav books I read 'Twenties Girl' By Sophie Kinsella, again also amazing.

33: Last show you watched?

- Come dine with me is on in the background as I am doing this so I guess it counts.

34: Last person you talked to?

- My mum about the Beyonce concert tonight!

35: The relationship between you and the person you last texted?

- I last texted my Sam, my wonderful boyfriend.

36: Favourite food?

- I used to be one of those people who wasn't a big food fan and would forget to eat and only done it to stay alive. Now I am a huge food lover and love eating. I will try almost anything now. However I still have to stick with my plain old scrambled eggs and toast, I could eat that all day every day and never get bored. With lashings of tomato sauce! MMMM.

37: Place you want to visit?

- I have a huge travel bucket list. Rome, Thailand, Dubai, Vegas, Africa, Bora Bora, I could go on and on but I'd never stop.

38: Last place you were?

- If holiday wise, Spain. If just in general, my kitchen.

39: Do you have a crush?

- My Sam. Channing Tatum, Leo DiCaprio, Zac Efron again celebrity wise I could go on and on.

40: Last time you kissed someone?

- Last night.

41: Last time you were insulted?

- On Saturday I was out with some girl friends and someone I don't know was saying I was too skinny. Not the worst insult but I still was slightly offended.

42: Favourite flavour of sweet?

- I don't really have a favourite as I don't really eat sweets to much. Probably sour things that make you make funny faces.

43: What instruments do you play??

- I used to play a little guitar but I gave up. I really wish I didn't.

44: Favourite piece of jewellery?

- I have a necklace that is a tartan ribbon with a turquoise angel on it. All the different colours of angel's have different meaning and the turquoise one represents 'Guardian Angel' so my mum bought it for me from the Stirling Castle gift shop as she is 100% my guardian angel. I only take it of in the shower. Also its an angel on tartan so very tartan fairytales right??

45: Last sport you played?

- Oh my, I couldn't even remember that.

46: Last song you sang?

- Drunk in Love by Beyonce.

47: Favourite chat up line?

- I definitely don't have one! They are too cringey!

48: Have you ever used it?

- Nope..

49: Last time you hung out with anyone?

- Last night with Sam, Tuesday with my friend Caitlyn.

50: Who should answer these questions next?

- Laura if she wants to do it! And everyone who wants to!

That was actually more fun than I thought it was going to be. I tag everyone who reads it to do it.

Wishlist!

Hey guys, Gemma here!

So the other day I booked my summer holiday to Rome. I am so so excited, even though I am not going until July I can't help myself looking for summer clothes. Even though I have a full wardrobe of summer items. I am also going to London with my uni in March so again I keep shopping for that! This is quite a big wishlist guys but it is just things that I like the look of, there is no way I'd be able to buy them all!

1. Semi-sheer Clutch Bag - £15. Topshop. I LOVE Orange. It is my ultimate favourite colour and I feel like this would be a gorgeous bag with a monochrome outfit just to add that pop of colour. It would be fabulous on a night out.

2. Hex Leather Holdall Bag - £95. Topshop. I love the colour of this bag, I just think it is so gorgeous. I was looking at this bag for using on the plane and in the airport. It is huge so it would be the most perfect bag for someone taking a trip for a few days.

3. 'On Top' Black Patent Heels - £65. Office. I don't think I have ever owned a pair of pointed heels and I didn't think they were my style however I am totally in love with these heels. I think they would be perfect for a date night or just going for drinks with the girls. Can't you see these in a monochrome outfit with the orange bag? Tied up with a black blazer?

4. JuJu Maxi Low Jelly Mega Glitter - £20. Office. Quite the mouthful huh? I know JuJu and Jelly shoes have been around for years and they remind me of when I was a tiny tot. However I feel like they were everywhere last summer and made a massive comeback. At this point I thought they were ridiculous and wondered why anyone over five was wearing them. Now I am eating my own words and I am desperate for a pair. I think they would be so cute as I strut through the streets of Roma! Also, my niece Ava has a pair so what would be better than matching with her? (Even if she is 5 months old..)

5. Shilin Mesh Panel Strappy Midi Dress in Cream - £24.99. Missguided. A dress I think is a little different than the norm and I love it. I think this dress would be so gorgeous on a night out.

6. Spring Day Playsuit - 48 Australian Dollars. Sabo Skirt. Have you guys seen or checked out Sabo Skirt yet? It is literally the most amazing online store I have ever came across. There is not one item on it that I am not in love with. It is an Australian clothing site and it full scale breaks my heart that they don't have a UK site, however they do do international delivery for a decent $10. I have been fighting with myself on whether to get this, it has a criss cross back and I have never loved a playsuit so much. It would be amazing in the summer with a tan. Uhhh I want it so bad. I am just afraid of paying for things in a different currency.

7. Nectar Dress - 58 Australian Dollars. Sabo Skirt. Again another item from Sabo Skirt that I desperately want to buy myself for summer. I know that for Rome I really want a white summer dress for during the day and I think this is perfect. It is backless so it is a like risque but you are only going to be able to wear stuff like this when you are young so why not? Please encourage me to buy these guys because I am in love. If you haven't already, I definitely recommend giving Sabo Skirt a look for your summer stuff!

So guys, this is what I have been lusting over the past few weeks, what do you all think about them? Do you have your eye on anything at the moment? Let us know!

These are all my own opinions.

Boot obsession!

Hello everyone, Laura here.

Ok, so recently I have developed an obsession with boots. Of every kind. Ankle, combat and over the knee. I seriously cannot stop buying them!!
So I thought I'd do a post on my current favourites!

First off are my burgundy Doc Martens which I got from office on sale for about £50! Bargain! These are super versatile and go with every outfit. Only problem, they take a while to get broken in. My feet have had super painful blisters from them, but they ease off soon enough and are super comfy!

Next are my most recent purchase, I got these from New Look for a night out with my best friend and my big cousin, and as I'm super small I wanted a cute, comfy ankle boot that would give me some height! And I got them for £20 as they were having a 20% off weekend plus student discount!

The next pair were from Deichmann, and I spotted these as I was shopping with my big cousin for his fiancĂ©es christmas presents, and made him about turn so I could go buy them! I think they were around £25-ish? which I think is great! They are super comfortable and really on trend with the cut outs!

The next pair I also got from New Look, I was rummaging around in their shoe sale section and came across these beauts! They were the only cute ankle boots there and they were in my size! Fate right?! I think they were around £15 if I remember correctly!

And lastly my final pair, which I wear a lot to work is these cute combat style boots from primark, I love these because I finally have a sturdy pair of boots that I can wear without worrying they'll fall apart which is a surprising thing to say about them because they are from Primark, but they feel brill! I think they were around £13? I'm really rubbish with remembering prices of things! (Sorry!!)

So there ya have it! My current boot obsessions!
What are your current loves?!

Lotsa Love,

ELF Haul!

Hey guys, Gemma here.
So the other day when I was applying my foundation, I realised my brush was looking a little worse for wear. I have been using the same E.L.F 'Studio Stipple Brush' for around two years and it is definitely my favourite foundation brush. So after looking at the condition of the brush I had, I knew it was time to purchase a new one.

However, when I logged on to my laptop and on to the E.L.F website to buy my brush, I was greeted with a huge 'SALE' link, so obviously I wandered through the whole website and my basket was growing and growing. I then noticed a sign at the top of the screen that was advertising an offer.. If you were spending £15 then E.L.F were giving you free gifts to the value of £15 and free delivery! How could I say no? So this is what I got.

This is the infamous 'Studio Stipple Brush' - £3.75. When I received this brush I realised that it was a slightly smaller brush than the one I already owned and I must admit I was a little bit gutted for some reason. Then I realised it would be more practical for travelling - always a silver lining!

Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 - 75p for one. I really love tinted moisturiser for summer and for nighttime on holiday. So when I seen these were only 75p I had to get one, obviously as it is an online store, I couldn't check which shade I was so I got two! I got the shades 'Apricot Beige' & 'Rosy Beige'.

Custom Eyeshadow in 'Wisteria' -£1.50. Guys I am such a sucker for purple eyeshadows. Use them wrong you can end up looking like you have done a few rounds with Rocky, but use them right - I feel - you will end up with the most gorgeous eye look. This eyeshadow is the same idea as the MAC pro palette eyeshadows. So you can make your own palette!

Concealer brush - £1.50. I always use two concealers, one for undereyes and one for blemishes so I simply just needed another brush as I only have one!

Eyeshadow brush - £1.50.  I have so many flat shader brushes, all different brands and for some reason I couldn't help myself adding this to my bag. This brush is really great for packing on colour.

Corrective Concealer in 'Erase and Conceal' - £3.75. I have had my eye on this for years but I am pretty lucky with my skin so never really needed it. I just thought it was a cool product. Then recently I have been getting a lot of redness that needed dealt with so I got this! The website says 'Use green to neutralise red tones on the skin. Yellow and Pink counteract bluish tones, under-eye circles and dark spots. Use the blue to minimise yellow coloured imperfections and very dark undereye bags'  So far I am loving the green one!

Individual lash kit in black - £1.50. I am a total lover of false lashes for a night out and have been for years. However I have actually never used individual lashes as I always assumed they would be too fiddly. I decided to bit the bullet and just get some to try. This also brought me to exactly to the £15 minimum spend!

So lets see what I got for free!

100pc Festive Marble Eyeshadow Palette. I love eyeshadows and I think this palette has such a great range of colours. I feel like it is so rare to see a palette that entwines neutral shades with actual colours. Also love the last line of smokey eye colours! Great little freebie I think.

Mineral Eyeshadow. Sorry guys I have no idea what shade this actually is, after a look on the website I think it might be bronzed but I'm not 100% sure. I am so so so in love with this colour what ever it is! It is such a gorgeous shimmery brown which I know I will absolutely get a lot of use out of!

Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick. I love these Jumbo Lip Products that have been floating around the beauty world for the past few years. I have a lot from many different brands and this is my first E.L.F one. Again guys, I don't know what the shade is. It is a shimmery nude, however I can't tell which one it is just from the website. I think this will be a great product for the summer.

Lip Balm SPF 15. I can't really express how much I love lip balms with SPF. I always take loads on holiday so I was really excited about this product. But.. I really dislike this product. Loving 3 out of 4 isn't bad though. I think the shade is beautiful, the thing I don't like is the smell. I can't even properly describe it. My mum also smelt it and was repulsed. I nearly threw up! It isn't your average nasty smell, it just isn't pleasant. Definitely not what you are wanting for your lips. Glad it was free!

Do you believe I got all of this for only £15 with free delivery! Unfortunately this was only a 24 hour promotion - I just went on to get my brush at the right time! Have you guys used any of these products? Or made an E.L.F purchase recently? Let us know!
