Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014.

Hi everyone, Laura here!

Apologies for the lack of posts from myself - work has been insanely busy! A huge thank you to Gemma for holding down the fort and updating on here!

As I write this post, there is only 45 minutes till 2014 is upon us. I am so thankful for the incredible things that have happened in 2013, and I am so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the most amazing people.

I can't wait to see all the brilliant opportunities 2014 will bring for everyone and hope you all have a happy and healthy new year. This year I plan to be very spontaneous & really live in the moment. I'm also going to try and not worry so much - things are going to happen whether I worry about them or not, so is it really worth the stress?! Absolutely not. Most of the things I worry about won't even cross my mind this time next year.

If you have any goals for 2014, make sure and leave a comment!

All the best for 2014!

I'm now off to watch Only an Excuse, sing Auld Lang Syne, have a vodka and lemonade and then go to bed - because I am exhausted! I'll hopefully wake up feeling a lot better than I do now, and be ready to take on the New Year!

Lots of Love,

December Favourites!

Hey guys! Gemma here.
This is the first favourites post to be done on our blog. How exciting!
A few of these things are stuff I received for Christmas but love so much it has over took everything.

Top to Bottom :
Illamasqua Powder Blush in Ambition
MAC Cosmetics Riri Hearts Mac Quad in Her Cocoa
Illamasqua Eyeshadow Palette in Empower
Nail Wraps

In December I have been LOVING nail wraps. I first used these in Florida when I was there in Summer 2012. I got the O.P.I ones in Sephora and fell in love instantly with how easy it was to get amazing looking nails without much effort. After I apply nail wraps I just get so excited with how good they look as they are so detailed. It is just as if I have got my nails done without the time or money. Being so busy during the festive period, my nails wraps meant I could always have good looking nails without me having to spend any time on them. I got these wraps for Christmas and my mum said she found them for a pound each! Mums always find the bargains don't they. I love the Essie ones that are available in Boots also.

This month I have found myself constantly reaching for these two palettes. I tend to wear eyeshadow everyday and palettes just make it so much easier when you don't have a lot of time to experiment with your eye look. The Riri Hearts Mac palette is literally the most gorgeous natural palette I own. (Including my Urban Decay Naked palettes.) All four colours work so well with each other and create such a beautiful look together. I always grab for this when I am in a rush as it only takes me about 5 minutes to do my eyes with it.

My Illamasqua palette was a gift from two of my girlfriends back in October. I can not express my love for this palette. When I first started using it I loved it for the fact it wasn't the same old natural palette and is definitely bolder than most of my palettes. However, when I was using it this month when I had a few extra minutes in the morning I truly realised how versatile it is. So many looks can be achieved with these colours. If I want to glam up or be casual it is all doable with this. All the colours in the pan are so true to what they appear and are so pigmented. The shimmery black in the bottom is a cream eyeshadow that can also double as a gorgeous eye liner, two in one! Thanks guys!

This blush maybe my favourite blush ever. And with the amount of blushers in my vanity that is quite the statement. (ps I am not intending to boast in anyway). I asked my mum for an Illamasqua blush for Christmas as I felt like it was one of the few brands I hadn't tried and I have always loved the packaging. I just told her to surprise me with the shade and I couldn't have picked it better myself. It is a Rose Gold shade with lots of golden shimmer that is just the right amount for the blush. I have heard a few people say it reminds them of Nars - Orgasm but I prefer this one by far.

Bath & Body Works Candle in Merry Christmas.
Both Laura and myself obsess over bath and body works candles. However being from Scotland we have never had the pleasure of having one. Until now that is! I had never told my mum about these candles but she knows that candles in general are my favourite. Especially sweet scents. So when she was in Las Vegas with my dad in November she picked up two candles for me. This one is a definite favourite. It is such a sweet scent that is similar to Yankee Candle's Christmas Cookie. But I definitely prefer this scent. It just fills the room with the smell right away and lasts for hours. The three wicks are such a plus for me. I hate when there is one side of the candles were one side is empty and the other side has lots of wax left. If any of that makes sense? Well due to the three wicks, the candle burns evenly and therefore you get all use of the candle. I always want to burn this but don't because I don't want it to run out. What a loser!

My final December favourite is another Christmas gift! My gran asked me what I'd like for Christmas and I was wanting to buy myself the Desperate Housewives boxset all year so I asked her for it. When I had a few free hours the other night my boyfriend, Sam and I started watching the first season. Safe to say we are both hooked and he has made me promise not to watch it without him. Not going to lie I am dying to know what happens next! Even though I loved it when it was on TV all those years ago I have seem to forgotten some story lines which I love because I get to experience it all over again. I really didn't think it would be something Sam enjoyed either - maybe that has something to do with Eva Longoria!

So that is my favourites for December. What a great year it has been for me and I hope you guys have had an amazing one as well. Have a great New Year everyone & stay safe!

Lots of Love,

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Lush Snowman Bath Bomb Review!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!
Well a late one, I can not believe Christmas is done and dusted for another year! And that we haven't posted in two weeks, sorry guys! As I said in the last post, I work in retail and it is a pretty crazy time for me a Christmas. Especially as my store was open until midnight the week before Christmas! Also, my cousin and my three month old niece are over from Australia where they now live for three weeks. My cousin is my best friend in the entire world and this is the first time I got to meet my beautiful niece, so my rare days off have been spending some time with them before they have to go home. So again, I am really sorry for the lack of posts but we are back!

For Christmas, I must have got at least 25 Lush bath bombs, my family and friends know me well. I love the Lush bombs. So I thought I would do reviews on some of them. The first one I've got to use was the 'Snowman Bath Ballistic'.

'Let this big softy moisturise and nourish you with creamy cocoa butter'

This is what Lush describes the bath bomb like. I do not think it has the strongest of scents when using, although now a good three hours after using the product, I do still smell like it. And boy it is good. I would describe it as a crisp and clean, vanilla scent. The cocoa butter definitely kicks into play instantly. My skin felt so amazing within about thirty seconds. So moisturised and soft which is always helpful in these cold months. The bomb itself was a cute little snowman shape. However mines looked a little worse for wear. I think that is just due to the fact it was in with other bombs. When put into the bath, it was not the most exciting. It turned the water a musky pink colour that wasn't the most attractive. That however is the only down fall!

I received the Snowman Bath Ballistic in a huge gift set my boyfriend got me. So unfortunately I do not know how much it costs. I know it only comes out at Christmas so if you can get this is a Lush store near you I would definitely recommend it.

Is there any Christmas bath bombs you guys have been loving?

(A little pic of me and my cousin at her surprise engagement party- she didn't know she was getting engaged! Nicola's dress is Lispy and my jumpsuit is Topshop)

How Much Is Your Face Worth Tag!!

Hey guys! Gemma here.
It is now only 9 days until Christmas, how is this happening? As I work in retail, this time is crazy busy for myself. I am literally working everyday bar one day until Christmas Eve. How depressing! So I thought that it might be a while until I got to blog again so I thought I would do another fun tag.

If you guys have been reading blogs for a while now, like Laura and myself, you may remember the 'How Much Is Your Face Worth Tag'. I randomly came across it again today when I was reading some of my favourite blogs. This post was really popular this time last year and I decided to revisit it, I'm nervous! If you haven't seen this tag before, it is basically just any FOD you wear and you add up the cost of all the products you use to see 'How Much Your Face Is Worth'.

So this is basically what I wear on a daily basis. I do switch up my eye shadows and blushes a lot. However these are the most common I go for so this is what made the cut. Unfortuately I left my mascara and eye brow kit at my cousin's. Ughhhh. So I will just have to include it in the cost without it being in the picture. Sorry guys!

Nars 'Laguna' Bronzer = £26.00
Sleek 'Rose Gold' Blush = £4.49
Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation = £8.99
Mac 'Brave' Lipstick = £15.00
Smashbox Photofinish Primer = £25.00
Bobbi Brown 'Bisque' Corrector = £18.50
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit 'Warm Beige' = £24.00
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer 'Light' = £4.19
Urban Decay Primer Potion = £15.00
Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural 'Medium' = £22.00
Stila Convertible Colour 'Illium' = £16.00
Mac Mineralize Skinifinish 'Soft & Gentle' = £22.00
Mac Eyeshadows in 'Ricepaper', 'All that Glitters', 'Woodwinked', 'Amber Lights', 'Espresso' = Each £12.50 so = £62.50!
Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner 'Black' = £7.99
TooFaced Lashgasm Mascara = £18.00
Sleek Brow Kit 'Light' = £8.49

Total = £298.15

WOWZERS!! Just off £300. That is crazy. Crazy. Obviously a lot of these products last a looong time. However I can not get over how much that is. That is a good few pair of shoes! I tag everyone reading this to do this tag. If you do, let us know how much your face is worth and we can compare!

Lots of Love,

Cranberry Inspired Make -Up Look!

Hey guys! It only 21 sleeps until Christmas, do you believe it!
When it gets to this time of year, there is one eye look that I always go back to year after year, so I thought I would share it with you all!

Like I said, I always find myself wearing this look when it get to December! I just feel it adds that little something extra to a boring look and it makes me feel festive! When it gets to the week before Christmas and I do this look, I really apply the colours in a vibrant way. Normally with black glitter eyeliner instead of normal. However I was just going to work the day I done this so thought I would keep it more casual!

Here are the steps on how to do this look:
1. First apply a primer - just to insure your shadows pop and last all day. My favourite one is Urban Decay's Primer Potion
2. I then Apply MAC's Cranberry onto the lid with a flat shader brush.
3. Then in the crease with my 219 brush I apply MAC's Espresso. Sometimes if I want Cranberry to be more prominent I apply Espresso first.
4. I then use my MAC 224 brush to blend the colours and any harsh edges.
5. With my MAC 217 brush I blend MAC's Ricepaper from my brow bone into Espresso.
6. I then apply my eyeliner on my top lash line. I always use gel liner as it is my favourite but you can use which ever you prefer. I just use which ever one I pick up and in this day was Maybelline's black gel liner. One of my favourites!
7. Finally I curl my eyelashes and apply my mascara! I used Too Faced's Lashgasm.

MAC's Cranberry. How beautiful is this colour? This picture really doesn't do it justice!

MAC's Espresso: Without a doubt my favourite ever MAC shadow. Favourite shadow in general probably!

MAC's Ricepaper: Such a beautiful highlight colour!

I also think it is such a wearable look, so even if you don't wear coloured shadows, this won't be too much for you. Apologies for the cringey poses, I am so awkward!

I hope you guys like this look! If any one tries it out, let me know how you liked it!

Until next time guys, have a good one!

HOW I CLEAN MY MAKE UP BRUSHES!

I just want to start of by saying how important it is to clean your make up brushes. Not only does cleaning your make up brushes regularly keep your brushes in a high quality condition, but clean brushes also help with a better application of make up and are better for your skin! Unclean brushes cause break outs, think of all your dead skin that is left on the brush after you use it!! Gross huh?

When I first really got into make-up a few years ago, I was obsessed with Blair Fowler aka JuicyStar07 and I came across her 'How I clean my make up brushes' video and I have pretty much used the same technique ever since. There are loads of different ways I just personally prefer this one! You can check out that video here

I would recommend cleaning your brushes once a week but really not everyone has the time to set aside half an hour every week! However I would make sure it is at least once a month to remain fresh faced! Obviously if you don't use your brushes often, these times won't apply to you, and also, these aren't specific rules, it is purely my opinion!

I am going to use my MAC 219 brush (my favourite brush ever) as an example! Starting out with it covered in black eye shadow from a night out a few days ago!

Step 1. The first thing you should do is place the bristles of the brush under lukewarm water. Almost every brush, regardless of brand, has a point in which the metal area meets the wooden area of the brush. If possible, you should try to avoid getting this area wet. This will cause your brushes to rot and will then require you to throw them away. Not what anyone wants, especially if you have paid a lot of money for it!

Step 2. Pour some baby shampoo on to a wet sponge. I have tried many different products instead of baby shampoo but always come back to it. It has no fragrance and has a soft consistency. Which I find works best for my brushes.

Step 3. Work your brush into the shampoo. For brushes such as blending brushes and pencil brushes, I use circular motions when cleaning them and for brushes such as flat shaders I use an up and down motion just so the brushes keep there shape. As you do this for about a minute you should notice that the brush is getting cleaner and that no product is transferring on to the sponge.

Step 4.  Once all the colour has came of the brush, run the brush under lukewarm water again, if the water from the brush then runs clear, your work is done and your brush will be clean!

So fresh and so clean!

Step 5. I then place all my brushes on toilet roll and leave them to dry over night!

So that is how I clean my brushes, if you try this method I'd love to hear how you find it!

KEEPING COSY: I LOVE HATS!!

Hey guys! So its exactly one month till Christmas: both Laura & I's favourite time of year!!
The only thing about it been one month till Santa comes, is that the cold weather is really starting to kick in, so when I was getting ready for work the other day I decided it was now time to get my favourite winter accessory out.. HATS! I have a wide range of ones so I thought I'd make a few funny faces wearing my favourite ones to share with you all.

This hat here is actually my mum's that I've stole, oops!
It is just a simple cream beanie with small pearl like balls dotted around the hat.
I love this specific hat as I feel that it is the type of accessory that could go with every kind of outfit due to the colours of it.

This is a bowler hat I got from Urban Outfitters a few months ago for summer. Now every hat I am talking about keeps my head and ears so warm and toasty when Jack Frost is out but this one.. not so much: I just had to include it! A bowler hat, in my opinion can dress up any outfit and just give it that little something extra!

THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT MY FAVOURITE HAT. I got this beauty, this time last year from River Island (However you can find them everywhere this year, including Primark). And it is a Christmas Pudding hat! Every time I wear this hat I get so many compliments on how amazing it is, everyone loves it! It just makes me feel so festive!

Channeling my inner Miley Cyrus here clearly! This is just a casual neon pink beanie. These types of beanies where extremely popular in the summer but I still love mines. I would normally wear this with a monochrome outfit and boots, or with jeans and a plain top and some converse. Just to make my outfit that little bit more exciting.

This hat is the newest one to my collect. A reindeer! Now I don't quite know how I feel about it. I don't know if it is maybe to much, with the ears and the bright red nose. But I do really love it so currently I'm trying to work with it! It is from River Island, for £13 and you can pick one up here:  Let you know what you guys think about it!

So that is my favourite hats! Like I said all barr the bowler hat, they all keep me cosy and warm at this time of year. And every single hat adds something different to my outfits. Especially the Christmas themed ones, they make everyone feel festive!

Hope you are all keeping warm at this freezing time of the year! Let us know what your favourite accessories are!

Edinburgh Trip to see The Maine!

Long time, no blog!

I thought I'd do a little post on going to Edinburgh to see my favourite band The Maine, who we're playing in the Liquid Rooms on Tuesday the 12th of November! Apologies for the fangirling!!

After months and months of waiting it was finally concert day!!

I left work early after asking for a half day and drove through to my Nana's house to pick up my little cousin who was coming along with me. I got in, quickly changed and then headed to the train station where we arrived with 3 minutes to spare!

After the hour(ish) long train ride we got to Edinburgh around half 4, the station was busy and we had no clue where to go so headed out to the street and just began walking! Haha! We ended up putting Google maps to good use and followed that all the way to our hotel!

We didn't have too long until the show, so we went out and grabbed some pizza and took it back to the hotel so we could start getting ready! We may or may not have demolished a large pizza each... Oops!!

Finally it was time to leave... But not before a quick selfie!

We got to the venue just after doors so we were only waiting a couple of minutes before we got it - as we got into the room the support act Fort Hope were playing. They were really good!
The next band to play were We Are The Ocean who were also super good! E grabbed a vodka and put our jackets in the cloakroom and found 2 seats on a couch right next to the stage! Bingo!! We sat and watched until it was time for The Maine!!
We saw them get ready to go on stage which was amazing! The view we had was insane!

It's the greatest feeling ever, seeing your favourite band and singing along with a bunch of strangers! I made eye contact a lot with the guitarist Kennedy which was really cool!

The girl who was standing right next to me even got to go on stage and sing with the band! Really cool! A bit gutted I didn't get my hand up quicker so I could have gone up! But hey ho!! The girl did amazing! The show was amazing as usual and The Maine didn't disappoint!

The venue had a super strict curfew so the show was pretty rushed, but still amazing nonetheless!! And after the last song Kennedy handed me one of his guitar picks!

We grabbed our stuff from the cloakroom and headed outside where a bunch of people were crowded round the bus where Pat the drummer couldn't unlock the bus door after some fans trying to help, the merch guy Peter came to the rescue and unlocked it!

Pat was so so lovely and insisted on taking the selfies himself and he took seven haha!

Then there wasn't a big crowd around the guitarist Jared who is seriously one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of talking to and his guitar skills are insane!

Then it was time to meet my favourite person ever. Mr John O'Callaghan. The first time I met him back in 2012 he complimented my hat, and that night was no different from this time - we both had similar hats on again. After waiting for a few minutes and dodging being in the back if people's selfies with John, it was finally my turn. I walked up to him and the first thing he said to me was "HEY! Nice hat!" Haha! I responded with "Hey!! You too!!" He then asked if we could swap hats... And seriously as if I would say no?! He popped his hat on my head, and put mine on his, then bent down a little and asked if it was ok... I tilted it back for him. Haha! I was freaking out on the inside!! What a fan girl! We took a few selfies and he then apologised saying his hat was smelly and motioned for me to smell it as he smelled my hat - what a weirdo! He also said he hadn't washed his hair in a while! Haha!

I have been wanting a specific tattoo for the longest time of a lyric from The Maine's song Take Me Dancing which is my favourite song ever and can always cheer me up! So whilst talking with John, I asked him to handwrite the lyrics for me so they were that bit more special. He agreed which was so sweet of him!!

We then got to have a quick chat with Garrett the bassist who was lovely! I told him how good they were and he was so greatful! Which was adorable!

Sadly we didn't get the chance to speak with Kennedy as it was getting late and we still had to find our way back to our hotel! Luckily on our walk back we bumped into two girls that we had spoke with after the show, who were luckily staying in the same hotel and knew the way back! And just like that we were back in our room and the night was over!

I hope you have enjoyed my little fan girl post about my night!

If you haven't already, check out The Maine on iTunes and YouTube! Seriously you won't regret it!

Speak to you soon!
